Milton Chambliss, CCEDD’s Executive Director presents at the MEC Annual Meeting

Claiborne County’s vast array of cultural, historical, outdoor and business assets were featured at the Mississippi Economic Council’s Annual Conference on April 12, 2012 in Jackson, MS. Milton Chambliss, Executive Director, Claiborne County Economic Development District participated in a panel presentation where CCEDD’s new website ClaiborneWorks was introduced to approximately 2000 attendees representing the business sector from across Mississippi. Port Gibson Main Street, Inc., Mississippi Cultural Crossroads, the Port of Claiborne County, Civil War Tourism, Windsor Ruins, the Depot, and even Prolon (United States Dinnerware) were featured during the presentation. All these assets contribute to making Claiborne County a strong competitor in Mississippi’s growing Creative Economy market place. Malcolm White, Executive Director, Mississippi Arts Commission and panel moderator even mentioned Port Gibson becoming a pilot community for their Creative Economy marketing efforts. The cumulative visual impact of the website presentation featuring the assets and benefits of Claiborne County has stimulated increased interest by the State’s business sector and economic development community in Claiborne County.
