SESQUICENTENNIAL COMMEMORATION OF THE THIRD U.S. COLORED CALVARY’S EXPEDITION THROUGH PORT GIBSON

The Black & Blue Civil War Re-enactors will converge on Port Gibson at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 to commemorate the Sesquicnetennial of the Third Regiment, United States Colored Calvary's Expedition through Port Gibson, MS.  The Third U.S. Colored Calvary was comprised of 13 companies of United States Colored Calvary Soldiers (The Black Horse Soldiers) from Mississippi.  These formerly enslaved Mississippians enjoyed the proud distinction of being one of the finest calvery regiments Union or Confederate of the Civil War.  The Third U.S. Colored Calvary's record shows a long list of victories and no defeats.
